One day I found a mossy cave locked far within a wood
A place where both the mind and air seemed strong and clear as day
As I passed the entrance I sensed a spirit attach intensely where I stood
Soon I felt the coldest inklings of that which chased my calm away.
The whisperings of a voice, it echoed far throughout the deep
The recess dripped with all the songs of each soft and gentle tear
These whisperings haunted me while both awake and fast asleep
They spoke the name of Amarill, and I felt her far and near
As I stepped within the shallow entrance, resistant to my lamp
I quickly found it to lead far deeper into the caverns oh so still
I felt my way through all the space so dark and quiet and damp
To find if the shadows revealed the one they called by Amarill
Deep within the cave I spotted a glowing wistful wraith
She sat alone within the room, a vastness of empty space
I sat with her and whispered softly until she found her faith
and left her walking the cavern room, a smile upon her face.
Time has passed, I’ve left the cave and wraith now far behind
I think of her soft sweetness and the message that she wrought
Into the corners of my heart, my soul and tortured, anxious mind
I think of the cave and of Amarill and all the love she sought.
