Dearest Amarill,
Hell doesn’t get any easier. I took another walk with Lucifer. He really is quite frightening. As we walked, he was showing me his exhibits of fools and fallen heroes. Disturbingly, I felt some common ground with the many heretics he displayed. They were a prideful, sad lot. He waved his pitchfork and told me about the things they had done, the causes they had pursued, and I wondered if my cause with you was equally lost. I wondered if I had betrayed God irrevocably. I thought of you and I tried to sense your presence as I always used to. But earth feels very far away in Hell. Had I made a mistake? Perhaps God would forgive me if I tempered my passion? As they say, the devil is in the details. I’m just trying to find my way back. Hopefully you’ll still be there.
Yours,
Romeo
