Rays of Hope

They come alone, some young, some grown

With devastated minds

They search their souls for the fortitude and strength

To leave the past behind.

By God’s true grace, they try and face

The faults that lie within

Binded in this brotherhood

They cast away their sin.

In search of hope, tossing cords of rope

Unto their fellow man.

And with the aid of faith and love

Together, they forget a plan.

In the light of the sun, one by one

They remember their joy and loves

And as brothers and sisters once more

They face the world, their hearts gentle as doves

Matron and maid, by God’s grace are saved

Finding their places in the light.

To sing once again by the sides of their men

In a future oh so bright.

On their faith they rely as they learn to live not die

And escape the scourge of the past

As the days go slowly by, they find the strength and reasons why

To smite their demons at last.
