True Colors

I watch you with the most disinterest

knowing, as you know, you’ll find no rest

Pathetically you resist the fall

Defying in vain the cuckoo’s call.

It announces all the secrets we hide

Laughing at our transparent pride

The promises we make to one another

With the solemnness of sisters and brothers

You dreamt yourself a knight in armor

Full of visions and causes to fight for

A just and pure and righteous son

Yet for all of this what have you become?

It’s wrong the way you flee the night

Cowering from the demons that you fight

Please don’t share with me your fear

You know, my friend, I’ll shed no tears.

And though you scare me now and then

And for the sake of ego I call you friend

You know I will just walk away

Come the fading of the light of day

And though we spent much time together

Vehemently, I’ll disavow you forever

Come the night you’ll stand alone

Screaming in the hell you own.

You’re a demon truly in all but name

Yet one who is still to learn his game

The pendulum of fate is swinging

No joy in the melody it’s bringing

I won’t be there when you call

Who could catch when you fall?

So when it’s time to choose your path

Which shall it be? Faith…or Wrath?
